Our Credit Union Motto “Not for Profit, Not for Charity, but for Service”
"People helping People" is at the cornerstone of this philosophy. By working together through co-operation, people can achieve far more together than individually on their own.
Our Story
Tara & District Credit Union Limited was established in 1977, and from there it grew in strength to become the vibrant and ideal financial institution that it is in today’s economic climate. The present healthy state of affairs of Tara & District Credit Union Limited is due to the foresight of its founders and to the dedication of local men and women who down the years have given of their time and energy unselfishly to the promotion of the Credit Union in Kilmessan.
Tara & District Credit Union Limited is a local, not for profit financial institution. We specialise in providing a safe place for savings and loans in our community. Tara & District Credit Union Limited is proud of its heritage and continues to be owned by our members and operated by our voluntary Board of Directors.
We at Tara & District Credit Union Limited strive to be at the heart of the community and promote and encourage positive action that enriches the lives of the people who live and work in our town. We continue to work through local primary schools. We also actively support a wide range of local charitable, sporting and community groups, both financially and otherwise.
